How Lancaster, PA is improving their stormwater management

City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, used Go Vocal’s community engagement platform, Engage Lancaster, to help address major stormwater management challenges in a city with a combined sewer system. The city needed a better way to understand localized flooding, drainage pain points, and concerns about sewer overflows and pollution affecting the Conestoga River.

Using Go Vocal’s mapping and ideation tools, Lancaster collected resident input through a multi-phase engagement process tied to both online and in-person public meetings. The platform helped gather 20 priorities for the control plan, pinpoint flooding issues in specific areas like Landis Drive, and translate community feedback into a conceptual engineering plan that led to construction of underground stormwater trenches now underway.
