How Copenhagen got 12,000 residents to participate in large-scale Proposals project in just 4 months

The City of Copenhagen wanted to strengthen participatory democracy by launching a bottom-up proposals initiative that could engage residents across the municipality and support multiple city administrations. To do that, they chose Go Vocal and its community engagement platform to power their new proposals-based engagement project, Københavnerforslag.

Go Vocal helped Copenhagen launch a clear, structured proposals process with co-sponsors, screening criteria, transparent updates, and strong communications support across digital and in-person channels. In just four months, the city registered more than 12,000 residents toward a goal of 20,000 in 18 months, while also increasing trust, transparency, and the quality of participation through a more collective and accountable engagement model.
