Case Study: Newham Council co-designs urban planning with Go Vocal

A Go Vocal Case Study

Preview of the Newham Council Case Study

Collective Urban Planning In The London Borough Of Newham

Newham Council used Go Vocal’s community engagement platform to include residents, businesses, and shoppers more directly in local urban planning decisions. The council needed a better way to boost participation, communicate across language barriers, and gather input on regeneration and shared-space projects while working around the disruption of COVID-19.

Go Vocal helped Newham Council launch a digital consultation hub supported by online and offline outreach, including multilingual materials in Gujarati, Bengali, and Urdu, plus flyers, posters, newsletters, and QR-code promotion. The platform collected 274 online comments and hundreds of submissions overall, with 89% of traffic coming from direct links and promotion; it also helped co-design the £4.1 million Queen’s Market Good Growth Programme, surface strong support for ideas like public art and wellbeing workshops, and engage business owners and non-local participants in the planning process.
