A deep-dive into Allen, TX’s engagement success

The City of Allen, Texas, needed a better way to engage residents in its bond planning process, especially with a small internal team and the challenge of reaching people beyond traditional in-person meetings. Working with Go Vocal’s online community engagement platform, the city sought a more inclusive, transparent, and efficient way to gather input for the Engage Allen 2023 Bond Program and other planning efforts.

Go Vocal helped the City of Allen build a hybrid engagement strategy that combined in-person meetings with asynchronous online participation through tools like Surveys, Ideation, and a Volunteer tool. The city promoted the platform through email, social media, QR codes, and subcommittee outreach, resulting in more than 600 registered users, over 1,486 page views, and engagement from 612 households online. The approach broadened participation, improved representativeness, and gave council members confidence to move forward with a people-centered plan.
