De La Salle school St. Helens, a Catholic high school serving 1,200 pupils and supporting around 1,400 staff and pupils on a single site, needed a better web-based asset register and a more effective way to log incidents and requests. Using GLPI, the school wanted a system that could be accessed from any device and could replace an inherited spreadsheet-based process while improving support and visibility.

GLPI provided an asset database and helpdesk platform that let the school track IT assets in detail, including device connections, switch ports, installed software, incidents, and solutions for reuse in the knowledgebase. The reporting, monitoring, and export features helped GLPI identify problem devices, locations, and emerging trends, support auditing, and improve management insight; the school also said GLPI was easier to use and customize than more expensive systems like ServiceNow and Supportworks.
