Netia accelerates FTTH cost estimation with Globema and FME Platform

Netia, a leading telecommunications company in Poland, faced the challenge of needing to quickly and accurately estimate the costs and profitability of building new FTTH networks. The traditional manual process for creating initial network designs was slow and labor-intensive, hindering their ability to make swift investment decisions. To overcome this, they partnered with vendor Globema, which utilized its FME Platform to develop a solution.

Globema implemented its High-Level Design (HLD) Planner, a tool powered by FME Form and FME Flow, to automate the generation of preliminary FTTH network plans. This solution automatically placed network components, configured splitters, and defined cable routes while accounting for obstacles and existing infrastructure. For Netia, this resulted in significant time savings and increased efficiency by eliminating manual design work. Most importantly, it empowered improved strategic decision-making by allowing for the rapid comparison of multiple investment scenarios, enabling more informed choices on network expansion.
