Gunpowder, a full-stack solution provider for media and entertainment companies, needed an automated, multi-tenant way to support geo-dispersed digital artists with performance-grade virtual workstations, rendering, and collaboration tools. Partnering with Globant and Google Cloud, the company sought a more scalable approach for deploying and managing virtual VFX facilities.

Globant built automation to deploy Gunpowder’s virtual facilities on Compute Engine, along with the Ignite self-service management application and a billing backend using BigQuery, Data Studio, and Cloud Run, plus integrations with GKE and Cloud Build. The solution reduced deployment time to just a few minutes, simplified environment management for end users, and, at the time of the case study, supported more than 600 workstations; Ignite was also published in the Google Cloud Marketplace.
