BBVA Data & Analytics, part of the BBVA financial group, faced the challenge of turning vast but underused point-of-sale (POS) payment data into actionable insights for small and medium businesses. Together with Globant, BBVA built a solution to help retailers understand customers, competition and sales dynamics by transforming POS transactions into business intelligence via the Commerce 360 big data platform.
Globant and BBVA Data & Analytics developed Commerce 360—an analytics framework and platform whose first prototype was delivered in three months—to give merchants sector comparisons, time-of-day sales patterns, customer loyalty and segmentation, and market-share reports. The solution has enabled faster decision-making and increased profitability for clients, helped BBVA position itself as a digital services leader, and has been rolled out as a PRO version in Spain since 2016 with a pilot expansion in Mexico in early 2017.
