AWS data pipelines for SAP data analytics

Top Mexican Retailer needed greater visibility into accounting records for shrinkage provisioning and wanted easy-to-build, maintainable reports with the computing power to perform calculations over millions of records. Globant supported the retailer using AWS data pipelines for SAP data analytics, integrating SAP BW/ECC with tools such as IBM DataStage, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, Amazon Athena and Tableau.

Globant implemented daily batch extraction from SAP BW to S3 via IBM DataStage, transformed and aggregated raw Avro data into Parquet with AWS Glue, enabled querying with Amazon Athena and visualization in Tableau, and returned aggregated results to SAP ECC. The solution delivered ready-to-use aggregated datasets and faster reporting, simplified BI workflows, and the ability to run calculations over millions of records for more timely shrinkage provisioning.
