A Globant Case Study
US Online Education Company — a major US provider of adaptive literacy curriculum for K–12 and homeschool students — faced rising teacher workload from real-time chat support: students often asked unclear questions or went off-topic, consuming time that teachers needed for instruction. To address this, Globant proposed an AI-powered assistant/chatbot — a custom deep-learning solution (a recurrent neural network built with PyTorch) tailored to the client’s e-learning environment and teacher behavior guidelines.
Globant built and validated the solution via a 12-week POC and a production rollout (deployed Dec 2017) that trains on millions of historical student–teacher interactions and runs on a cloud-based platform that spins up chatbot instances as needed. The system includes a teacher portal, continuous retraining and a data platform (growing >1M lines/month); in six months the Globant chatbot proved able to handle off-topic behavior and guide students, measurably easing teachers’ workloads while enabling ongoing improvement through feedback loops.
