Napera Selects GlobalSign EmbeddedSSL to Secure Network Access Control Solution

Napera Networks, a company providing network access control appliances for small and medium-sized enterprises, faced the challenge of securing web-based management of its devices without compromising security. They needed to avoid using self-signed certificates that would trigger browser warnings and condition users to bypass security alerts, while also providing a certificate solution for customers who lacked their own internal certificate authority. To solve this, they partnered with vendor GlobalSign to utilize their EmbeddedSSL certificate service.

The solution implemented by GlobalSign was a flexible SOAP API that integrated directly into Napera's manufacturing process, allowing for the automated provisioning of trusted, Organizationally Validated SSL certificates onto each hardware appliance. This provided immediate security benefits, ensuring all administrative connections were encrypted and trusted by default in any browser. As a result, Napera became one of the first companies to ship networking gear with pre-installed, valid X.509 certificates, enhancing security for their customers by eliminating the need to "click through" certificate warnings and reinforcing proper security practices.
