Case Study: Instabeat achieves real-time swim performance tracking with GlobalLogic

A GlobalLogic Case Study

Instabeat - Customer Case Study

Instabeat, founded by swimmer-inventor Hind Hobeika, set out to solve a clear pain point: swimmers lacked a waterproof, low‑friction device that displays real‑time biometrics. After exceeding a crowdfunding goal by over 60% but encountering prototype challenges, Instabeat engaged GlobalLogic for swimming app development services to refine the heads‑up display, sensor processing, backend and mobile/desktop apps needed to bring the product to market.

GlobalLogic’s engineering center in Lviv built the sensor‑data interpretation library, Bluetooth device support, an iOS client and an online dashboard, and validated performance by video‑synchronized testing. The resulting 30 g goggles‑mounted device uses a temporal artery sensor plus magnetometer and accelerometer to show real‑time colored heart‑rate zones, track laps/distance, and feed processed metrics (calories, speed, stroke, min/max/avg HR) to the app — enabling Instabeat to commercialize the product, satisfy backers, and earn broader recognition such as Hind’s inclusion on the BBC’s 2014 “100 Women” list.
