Bay Innovations - Customer Case Study

Bay Innovations, a healthcare startup building hardware for anesthesiologists, partnered with GlobalLogic (and its experience‑design arm Method) to develop Vivi, a head‑mounted display (HMD) to let clinicians monitor patient vitals hands‑free in the operating room. Their challenges included delivering contextually rich data from third‑party monitors, ensuring long battery life and unobtrusive hardware, addressing cognitive and human‑factors for surgical use, and obtaining sufficient IP and a working prototype to secure funding and begin clinical testing.

GlobalLogic and Method delivered an integrated, user‑centric solution: engineering optics, electronics and firmware; building a gateway to interface with patient monitors; creating a secure Bluetooth wireless headset, companion smartphone app and bespoke GUI; plus industrial design, branding and a route‑to‑market strategy. The result was the Vivi prototype — a configurable, low‑cost HMD that securely delivers at‑a‑glance vital data hands‑free, operates for extended periods, and provided Bay Innovations with the IP, functional prototype for clinical testing and commercialization support that exceeded expectations.
