The Israel Ministry of Culture & Sports wanted to digitize decades of Israeli music and make it free for everyone, but faced the challenge of building a high-profile national streaming platform. The application needed infrastructure capable of handling hundreds of thousands of users at launch, a custom recommendation engine to support local artists, and a complex backend for real-time royalty calculations. Globalbit engineered the Shiri platform, building a proprietary AI recommendation engine, a high-concurrency streaming infrastructure, and a royalty distribution system integrated with the National Library. The solution was a major success, scaling to 600,000 users with zero downtime and reaching the number one spot in both the Apple App Store and Google Play in Israel on its launch day.
