Ontix and Globalreach Technology Deploy First Central London Passpoint Network

Ontix needed to solve severe mobile-data congestion and provide seamless roaming in one of Central London’s busiest tourist areas, Trafalgar Square. GlobalReach Technology was brought in to supply Passpoint Wi‑Fi connectivity and a Wi‑Fi roaming service so international and UK mobile operators’ subscribers could auto‑attach and roam onto the new network — the first Passpoint Wi‑Fi deployment in Central London.

GlobalReach Technology implemented Passpoint connectivity across a 17‑access‑point Ruckus outdoor Wi‑Fi deployment integrated with Ontix’s small‑cell infrastructure and offered the service to operators for trials. The network delivers speeds in excess of 100 Mbps, carried 120.37 GB over 31 Dec 2019–1 Jan 2020 and 1.7 TB over 18 Dec 2019–11 Jan 2020, and eased capacity and congestion during high‑footfall events.
