GlobalReach Wi-Fi Connects & Protects the Homeless at OurCalling Shelter, Dallas

OurCalling Shelter in Dallas County provides day services to thousands of rough sleepers but lacked reliable public internet access needed for job searches, benefits applications and staying connected. To address this, OurCalling partnered with GlobalReach Technology, which installed free on-site Wi‑Fi (GlobalReach Wi‑Fi) in May 2018 to give patrons public internet access.

GlobalReach Technology’s solution included an authentication process capturing email and mobile numbers so staff could directly contact clients; during a 2018 heatwave these broadcasts guided at-risk people to water and medical help, actions OurCalling says helped save lives. The network is now a permanent service with hundreds of daily users and thousands since launch, and supports OurCalling’s app connecting users to over 200 local services, significantly improving safeguarding and social inclusion.
