GlobalReach Technology collaborates with Level 3 Communications to offer free Wi-Fi services.

Level 3 partnered with GlobalReach Technology to roll out free community Wi‑Fi for UK rail customers, addressing the challenge of delivering guest and corporate Wi‑Fi with minimal burden on operator IT. GlobalReach Technology supplied its Wi‑Fi management platform — including AAA RADIUS authentication and a captive‑portal solution — to enable quick provisioning and consistent user experience.

GlobalReach Technology designed, built and now manages the ScotRail guest Wi‑Fi over Level 3’s IP VPN, installing access points and controllers across 60 stations (live since Feb 2014). The solution authenticates users, offloads mobile traffic by recognising train MAC addresses to improve performance while trains are docked, and provides admin policy controls; the service has handled over 12 million users and has been extended to other transport, retail and government customers.
