XLN, a UK provider of phone, broadband, energy and card processing services to more than 100,000 small businesses, needed a secure, scalable way to offer free public Wi‑Fi that let independent traders compete with larger chains without exposing their systems. To meet that challenge XLN turned to GlobalReach Technology and its GlobalReach Wi‑Fi AAA/RADIUS and captive portal management platform to deliver a carrier‑grade public Wi‑Fi service for XLN business customers.

GlobalReach Technology supplied the AAA/captive‑portal platform (working with BSG Wireless for in‑field RADIUS and billing) to provide an infinitely scalable, secure managed Wi‑Fi solution with real‑time reporting and analytics. The deployment has grown rapidly since launch in September 2015—reaching 20,000 UK public hotspots and more than one million user sessions by May 2017, adding inbound roaming and the capacity to support billions of authentications to help XLN expand the network and improve customer insight.
