GlobalReach Provides Provisioning Power Behind World Wi-Fi Day Passpoint Hotspot 2.0 Roaming Program

World Wi‑Fi Day ran a City Wi‑Fi Roaming Project to celebrate and expand public connectivity but needed a secure, scalable way to let users automatically roam between city networks. GlobalReach Technology provided its captive portal and Wi‑Fi AAA / Hotspot 2.0 OSU solutions platform (backed by a virtual RADIUS environment) to deliver the Passpoint Hotspot 2.0 profile and simplify one‑time registration for users.

GlobalReach Technology’s platform hosted the OSU profile and proxied RADIUS across localized cloud clusters, enabling automatic, secure roaming for users who downloaded the Passpoint profile. The program connected more than 1,000 hotspots across four cities (including 200 LinkNYC kiosks in New York, 228 in downtown San Francisco, 500 across San Jose and its airport, and 290 sites in Singapore), involved 20 operators, increased Passpoint Hotspot 2.0 usage, and relied on a platform capable of supporting over a billion authentications a month.
