Globalreach Delivers Passpoint at Wi-fi Global Congress

Wireless Broadband Alliance wanted to demonstrate seamless, secure Wi‑Fi roaming and prove the commercial readiness of Passpoint at the Wi‑Fi Global Congress. The Wireless Broadband Alliance partnered with GlobalReach Technology, using GlobalReach’s Passpoint Next Generation Hotspot (NGH) and carrier‑grade Wi‑Fi management platform to deliver a live roaming demonstration across hotel, city and outdoor locations in San Francisco.

GlobalReach Technology built and operated the NGH network across the Palace Hotel, Market Street and two outdoor tourist sites, integrating hub providers and 20 participating operators to support Passpoint R2 capable smartphones, tablets and laptops (including Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy). The demonstration delivered secure, seamless roaming across indoor and outdoor sites, validated Passpoint commercial readiness, and exposed the industry to real‑world multi‑operator roaming for a wide range of devices.
