How Global Expansion Backed Mott MacDonald’s Global Ambitions

Mott MacDonald, a global civil engineering firm based in Croydon, London, needed an employer-of-record (EOR) partner to support project-based hiring where they had no local entities. Their key challenges were compliant onboarding, expatriate support (immigration and shadow payroll), and a technology-enabled way to track personnel and benefits. Global Expansion was selected to provide the EOR solution, leveraging its GX1 platform to integrate with Mott MacDonald’s systems.

Global Expansion implemented a coordinated EOR program using GX1, working closely with Mott MacDonald’s mobility and HRBP teams to manage onboarding, immigration, shadow payroll and local compliance, plus training and communications for stakeholders. The GX team used a multi-phase project management approach to deliver personnel to a remote project, support entity creation and transfers from EOR to new entities, and maintain compliance—resulting in successful onboarding for the project, streamlined global hiring processes, and smoother expatriate and transfer management.
