Eidsvoll 1814 Museum launches immersive 360 VR history experience in 2020 with Glitch Studios

The Eidsvoll 1814 Museum, responsible for the historic manor where Norway's constitution was signed, faced a challenge due to its remote location, limiting access for audiences with restricted mobility. To broaden its reach, the museum partnered with Glitch Studios to create an immersive, narrative-driven virtual reality experience using high-definition 360 photospheres.

Glitch Studios captured the manor in high visual fidelity using 360 photography, creating 8K resolution photospheres. They brought the history to life by placing green-screen actors portraying historical figures and scanned 3D objects inside the virtual environment. The solution was deployed on mobile Oculus Go headsets, making it highly accessible. This project successfully allowed the museum to reach a far wider audience, providing an immersive user-driven exploration of this pivotal historical site.
