HR Pharmaceuticals cuts landfill waste by 1.5 million containers with Glenroy

HR® Pharmaceuticals, a leading supplier of medical supply products, identified a significant opportunity to create a more sustainable and cost-effective ultrasound gel. Their challenge was to develop a best-in-class product with innovative packaging that would reduce waste, support hospital sustainability initiatives, and be easier to use. They partnered with packaging vendor Glenroy to bring this vision to life.

Glenroy developed the innovative EcoVue® FlexPac® flexible spouted pouch for the gel. This solution provided a strong barrier to protect the product, allowed for near-total evacuation of the gel to minimize waste, and was lighter to transport. The results were substantial: the packaging reduces the number of containers landfilled by 1.5 million annually and saves the industry nearly $1.9 million in waste. Customer feedback on the product and its packaging has been overwhelmingly positive, complaints have decreased, and Glenroy's solution allowed HR® Pharmaceuticals to pass along cost savings to their customers.
