Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), a global supplier of information technologies, services and solutions, wanted to improve customer support for its HNAS storage platform by giving customers self-service tools to proactively monitor systems. HDS also needed a scalable, automated way to perform deeper analysis on storage data, with the added goal of monetizing install-base data and creating new service revenue.
Glassbeam implemented its cloud-based Glassbeam Health Check service for HDS. The solution automatically collects and analyzes daily “call home” data from enrolled HNAS devices and presents actionable insights through a web portal and dashboards. Glassbeam helped eliminate 4–6 hours a day of manual log entry, enabled HDS to retain more than 18 months of data, and gave customers a simple one-screen view of overall system health in about two minutes, improving proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
