Case Study: Shoprite launches RFID self-checkouts in record time with GK Software

A GK Software Case Study

Preview of the Shoprite Case Study

Shoprite - Customer Case Study

Shoprite, Africa's largest retailer, faced the challenge of needing to launch a new apparel banner, UNIQ, with RFID-based self-checkouts in an extremely tight timeframe of just six months. This ambitious project, which also required integrating their existing loyalty platform faster than planned, was part of their broader initiative to upgrade their entire POS software architecture to a future-proof omnichannel platform with vendor GK Software.

GK Software successfully implemented a complete, cashless RFID self-checkout solution for Shoprite's UNIQ stores within the six-month deadline, marking the first such deployment in Africa. The solution integrated with Electronic Article Surveillance and Shoprite's SAP system in a record eight weeks. The results were a smooth, trouble-free launch with the technology performing remarkably well. Shoprite's CIO reported that GK Software delivered on schedule with better-than-expected results, enabling the rapid rollout of future-proof technology.
