How Orangutan Outreach Raised More Than Their Entire 2020 Revenue Budget with Crypto Donations

Orangutan Outreach, a nonprofit that protects orangutans in Borneo and Sumatra, needed a new way to raise funds for rescue, rehabilitation, and sanctuary care. They were initially cautious about cryptocurrency and needed a secure, simple way to accept crypto donations without distracting from their mission, so they turned to The Giving Block.

The Giving Block helped Orangutan Outreach set up crypto donations with guidance, support, and a straightforward process for receiving and converting gifts. The results were dramatic: a 169 ETH donation from the Bored Ape Yacht Club helped validate the channel, and by December 2021 Orangutan Outreach had raised more through crypto donations than its entire 2020 revenue. The new funding is helping expand sanctuary space for 100+ orangutans and support veterinary care, training, and transport for specialists.
