How Accepting Cryptocurrency Donations Helped Mental Health America Connect With Digital-Native Donors

Mental Health America (MHA), a nonprofit focused on mental health prevention, early identification, and recovery, wanted to expand its reach and connect with a younger, digital-native donor base. By working with The Giving Block and enabling cryptocurrency donations, MHA gained a new fundraising channel that could support its mission while appealing to donors who are passionate about social causes.

With The Giving Block’s crypto philanthropy solution, Mental Health America received donations from NFT projects and other digital-native supporters, including proceeds from Blazed Cats and BlankFace. These contributions totaled hundreds of thousands of dollars in 2021, helping fund mental health screenings, research, and education; for example, a donation of 0.25 ETH can provide about 500 screenings.
