Wendy’s worked with Givex Corporation in 2006 to replace certificates with a gift card program that could be accepted across 6,300 locations in the USA and Canada. The challenge included fraud risk, merchandising limits, and support for 500 franchisees using different terminals and point-of-sale systems.

Givex Corporation integrated the program with multiple POS environments, added standalone terminals where needed, and set up daily ACH fund settlement and dynamic currency conversion for cross-border redemption. To drive adoption, Wendy’s distributed 10 million gift card coupons, which had a 25.3% redemption rate, and about 50,000 gift cards were topped up by customers.
