The Phillies wanted to make the ballpark experience more useful for fans and began exploring stored value as early as 2004, starting with value loaded onto barcoded tickets for Diamond Club guests at Citizens Bank Ballpark. They later looked for a way to expand that approach so fans could use ticket-based value more easily and with more convenience.
Givex supported the Phillies with its Uptix mobile ticketing platform, which lets stored value be sent directly to fans’ mobile devices and used on concessions and merchandise. The Phillies said one opening day package drove four times as much spending from gift cards on opening day, and they also used Uptix to deliver fan appreciation day promotions in specific sections with value that could be turned on or off immediately and tracked in real time.
