The Women's Cancer Resource Center, a nonprofit supporting women with cancer, faced a significant challenge when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of its primary in-person fundraiser, Swim a Mile for Women with Cancer. This event was crucial, accounting for one-third of their annual budget, and they needed a way to pivot to a virtual format to continue engaging their supporters and raising funds.

The vendor, GiveSmart, provided a solution through its peer-to-peer fundraising tools and Event Page features. This allowed the center to successfully host a virtual "Swim a Mile / Move a Mile" event, which incorporated online fundraising pages, a donor honor wall, and other virtual engagements. As a result, GiveSmart helped the organization raise over $300,000, retain approximately the same number of participants, and increase the average amount raised per participant.
