Northwood University turned to GiveSmart when it was struggling to grow both the number of donors and the size of donations. To boost participation and engage alumni more effectively, the university explored crowdfunding as a new fundraising approach.

GiveSmart helped Northwood University launch a 3-day pilot crowdfunding campaign called “The Power of One,” enabling alumni captains to quickly create and share fundraising pages from their smartphones. The campaign reached 160 donors and raised $4,480 in online gifts plus $8,890 in offline donations, and a donor also contributed a $10,000 matching grant, pushing the effort past its $2,500 goal within 72 hours.
