Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney, an independent nonprofit supporting families with seriously ill children, wanted to test whether Facebook fundraising could become a new income stream and help fill a gap in its events calendar. New to Facebook Challenges, the team partnered with GivePanel and launched its first pilot campaign, Marathon in a Month, using GivePanel’s platform to manage supporter communication, registration, and fundraising journeys.
With GivePanel, Ronald McDonald House Charities GWS used low-cost incentives, weekly competitions, a realistic default fundraiser target, and careful supporter touch points to drive engagement and donations. The pilot raised AU$235,071 against a goal of AU$150,000, with 2,140 group members, 65% active fundraisers, and an average of AU$357.80 raised per active fundraiser, convincing the charity that Facebook Challenges are a viable fundraising channel.
