UCLA UniCamp, the official philanthropy of the Students of UCLA that sends over 1,200 children to residential outdoor summer camp each year, was struggling with an aging Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge/Kintera setup that lacked usability, integrated team‑fundraising functionality, reliable reporting and created heavy manual data‑entry work. To solve these problems they evaluated and adopted Giveffect’s all‑in‑one nonprofit CRM and fundraising platform, looking for better functionality, integration and ease of use.
Giveffect migrated UCLA UniCamp’s data (a seamless transition completed in about 24 hours), built custom fields and enabled Smart Automation across donations, volunteer forms and reporting, plus features like offline donation reconciliation and donor processing fee coverage. The results: UCLA UniCamp eliminated the need for a work‑study student to enter offline gifts, increased funds raised per student by about $150, and with 420 student fundraisers raised nearly the same $268,000 they had previously raised with 550 students — with 40–50% of donors opting to cover processing fees, saving the organization thousands.
