A GitLab Case Study
Worldline, the European market leader in payment and transaction services, faced slow, fragmented development workflows that hindered collaboration and code review—relying on a chain of tools (SVN, ReviewBoard, Jenkins, etc.), with new repos taking 1–2 weeks to provision and limited CI for many projects. To address this, Worldline adopted GitLab for Git repository management, Merge Requests and integrated CI, as well as GitLab Pages and Mattermost to simplify collaboration.
GitLab implemented merge-request-driven reviews, shared runners and built‑in CI/CD, plus Pages and chat integrations, enabling inner‑sourcing and broader developer contribution. The result: dramatic adoption growth (from dozens to ~2,000–2,500 active users), hosting 14,500 projects, 100,000+ merge requests with 1M comments, ~1.4M CI jobs last year and ~80% of CI now run through GitLab; repo provisioning fell from weeks to seconds and code‑review potential improved by 120x, boosting release quality and cycle speed.
