University of Cambridge Information Services paves path to DevSecOps with GitLab

University of Cambridge Information Services (UIS) needed a better way to keep pace with rapid versioning, support diverse academic and research teams, and replace fragmented tooling that had created inefficiencies and siloed workflows. To improve collaboration and visibility across departments, the university looked to GitLab and its GitLab Ultimate solution as part of a move toward more unified DevSecOps and source code management practices.

GitLab provided a single platform for production, staging, and development, supporting complex CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, integrating, and deploying software across the university. With GitLab, UIS improved collaboration, enabled self-service workflows, and achieved successful workflow implementation, including daily and even hourly releases during pandemic-related changes. GitLab also supported the university’s open-source culture and helped Cambridge continue innovating with one DevOps platform.
