Case Study: Sigma Defense speeds secure software delivery with GitLab

A GitLab Case Study

Preview of the Sigma Case Study

Sigma Defense uses GitLab to speed software delivery to US Navy

Sigma Defense, a technology company serving the Department of Defense and other public-sector customers, needed to overcome software factory sprawl, siloed teams, and slow, inconsistent delivery across its DevSecOps environment. Using GitLab Ultimate as the core of its Black Pearl platform, Sigma Defense sought a more unified way to develop, secure, and deploy mission-critical software for the U.S. Navy and other defense programs.

GitLab helped Sigma Defense centralize planning, development, testing, security scanning, documentation, and deployment in one end-to-end platform, improving collaboration, visibility, compliance reporting, and access to talent across locations. The results were dramatic: software factory setup time dropped from about six months to three to five days, deployment costs fell 90% from about $4 million to $400,000, and critical software update cycles improved from roughly three months to three days.
