A GitLab Case Study
Creationline is a GitLab reseller in Japan that wanted to do more than just sell licenses: they needed to support customers, contribute to the open source project, and close product gaps (notably a missing API and a Japanese-language bug) while building internal expertise around GitLab’s DevOps toolchain.
Creationline responded by dogfooding GitLab across the company, contributing code and fixes (opening merge requests that were reviewed and merged within three days), helping add missing functionality, and running trainings and meetups. Those efforts—done in collaboration with GitLab—yielded faster issue resolution, an MVP award for contributor Hiroyuki Sato, broader internal use of GitLab for CI/CD, sales/marketing workflows, translations and OKRs, and stronger customer support and community engagement.
