Lockheed Martin saves time, money, and tech muscle with GitLab

Lockheed Martin, the global defense and aerospace manufacturer, needed a more consistent way to build, share, and secure software across thousands of programs. With a patchwork of DevOps tools and uneven automation across teams, the company struggled with toolchain complexity, collaboration gaps, and high maintenance overhead. To address this, Lockheed Martin adopted GitLab Ultimate as its end-to-end DevSecOps platform.

Using GitLab, Lockheed Martin standardized CI/CD, improved reusable software sharing, and built common pipelines with integrated security and compliance features. The results were significant: CI pipeline builds became 80x faster, build times on one program dropped from 12 hours to 4 hours, thousands of Jenkins servers were retired, system maintenance time fell by 90%, and some teams reduced repository-and-pipeline setup from 40 hours to 30 minutes. GitLab also helped the company scale to 2,500 pipelines per minute and enabled faster, more frequent software delivery across the enterprise.
