Case Study: Goldman Sachs achieves 1,000+ daily CI builds and rapid production releases with GitLab

A GitLab Case Study

Preview of the Goldman Sachs Case Study

Goldman Sachs improves from two daily builds to over a thousand per day

Goldman Sachs’ Technology Division and global strategy teams needed to increase developer efficiency, speed up time-to-production, and eliminate toolchain complexity across a large engineering organization. After evaluating git-based options, Goldman Sachs selected GitLab — using its CI/CD and automation as a single application for source control, builds, testing, QA and deployments — to replace a bespoke toolchain and enable more concurrent development.

GitLab was deployed as a unified development platform and CI/CD engine, simplifying workflows with one centralized instance and out‑of‑the‑box Kubernetes support. As a result Goldman Sachs moved from only a few daily builds to 1000+ CI feature-branch builds per day for some teams, shifted major projects from 1–2 week release cycles to releases in minutes, saw dozens of teams push to production in under 24 hours, and achieved rapid adoption (1500+ users in the first two weeks) while supporting extensive test coverage (52k test cases across 11k test classes).
