A GitLab Case Study
OW2, a global nonprofit based in Paris that promotes open source infrastructure and middleware, needed to replace its aging forge and semi‑proprietary tools with a state‑of‑the‑art, seamlessly integrated open source environment. To serve its European and Chinese developer communities and member organizations, OW2 selected GitLab Core as the vendor/product to provide a modern, community‑backed development platform.
Using GitLab Core, OW2 migrated OW2 Forge and development workflows—adopting GitLab CI, GitLab Pages, issue tracking and the Docker Registry—and created migration scripts to preserve issue/commit references and dates. The move to GitLab delivered a standard environment for many members, improved daily productivity through GitLab’s issue tracking and workflow tools, and enhanced OW2’s reputation by providing cutting‑edge, open‑source tooling.
