GitLab accelerates innovation and improves efficiency for Synchrotron SOLEIL

Synchrotron SOLEIL, the French national synchrotron research facility, needed to improve developer productivity, strengthen version control and governance, and make collaboration easier for internal and external users. The team was also migrating a major application from PHP to Java and wanted to maintain strict code quality while replacing a fragmented mix of CVS, SVN, GitHub, and local repositories. GitLab Ultimate was chosen as the unified DevOps platform.

With GitLab, SOLEIL centralized source code management, issue tracking, project management, and CI/CD workflows in one place, improving visibility across the Agile team and making collaboration much easier. GitLab also sped up testing by automating what had previously taken about a week of manual effort, and the platform’s adoption grew from 134 users and 74 projects to 270 users and more than 250 projects, with nearly 500 more projects planned to move to GitLab.
