Case Study: Equinix achieves DevOps agility and self-service automation with GitLab

A GitLab Case Study

Preview of the Equinix Case Study

Equinix increases the agility of their DevOps teams with self-serviceability and automation

Equinix, the global data center company, needed to accelerate development speed, enable self-serviceability for distributed teams, and move from SVN to an enterprise Git solution that offered granular authentication, user management, API-enabled CI, high availability, and global scale. To meet those needs they adopted GitLab as their core code management and DevOps platform.

GitLab was deployed to enforce standardized workflows (code check-in, merge request reviews, CI) and integrate with Jenkins and other tools via GitLab APIs. Equinix gained greater visibility into code changes, ensured code review before merges with merge request approvers, enabled self-serviceability for product owners and developers, and supported containerized workflows—positioning teams for increased agility, consistent quality through automation, and easier global scaling (including planned use of GitLab’s Docker Container Registry).
