Deutsche Telekom drives DevSecOps transformation with GitLab Ultimate

Deutsche Telekom, one of the world’s leading telecommunications companies, needed to modernize software delivery across a large, distributed organization. As it moved from waterfall to Agile and DevOps, teams faced long release cycles, inconsistent tooling, manual work, and limited code sharing across departments. GitLab Ultimate and the broader GitLab DevSecOps platform were used to create a single source of truth and support a more collaborative, efficient development process.

With GitLab, Deutsche Telekom centralized CI/CD on a common platform, enabled inner-source collaboration, and later added GitLab Ultimate to bring security scanning and compliance into one dashboard. The results included a dramatic reduction in release cycles from nearly 18 months to roughly 3 months, more than 13,000 active users on the platform, and about 75% of Agile programs using the centralized CI/CD toolsuite. Deutsche Telekom also reported faster handling of security findings and improved productivity across teams.
