Case Study: California Department of Technology achieves faster, more secure DevSecOps delivery with GitHub

With GitHub Enterprise and Microsoft Azure DevOps, the California Department of Technology transformed into a state-scale DevSecOps organization

The California Department of Technology (CDT), which supports services for more than 39 million residents, needed to modernize its infrastructure to deliver public health and emergency information faster and more securely. Working with GitHub and Microsoft Azure DevOps, CDT faced the challenge of replacing slow, manual on-premises development processes that made rapid deployment and security hard to achieve.

GitHub helped CDT move to GitHub Enterprise Server and then GitHub Enterprise Cloud, enabling automated CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and built-in security scanning across the developer workflow. As a result, CDT significantly reduced deployment time, cut code delivery from days to minutes in some cases, and was able to build and deploy emergency web resources in less than 24 hours during California wildfire-related outages.
