University of Minnesota - Customer Case Study

The University of Minnesota needed a better way for its distributed IT teams to collaborate on code across five campuses and 230 departments. It adopted GitHub as a campus-wide “social network for collaborating on code,” giving students, faculty, researchers, and staff a shared platform for development and coordination.

GitHub implemented collaboration features like pull requests, issues, wikis, code review, and granular permissions, along with integrations with tools such as Slack and Travis. As a result, the University of Minnesota saw faster code pushes and pulls, better cross-department collaboration, less email noise, and reduced IT administration time through self-service and improved repository management.
