Technological Institute of Tlaxiaco uses GitHub to give students the real-world skills they need to thrive

The Technological Institute of Tlaxiaco, a computer systems engineering school in Mexico, wanted to help its mostly indigenous students gain real-world software skills and better career opportunities while managing projects more effectively. It turned to GitHub, including GitHub Education, to support learning in version control, collaboration, and modern development workflows.

GitHub helped the institute implement agile, project-based learning with tools like issues, pull requests, wikis, Kanban boards, and CI/CD, while also enabling asynchronous collaboration during the pandemic. According to the school, more than 70% of students said GitHub improved their technical and leadership skills, and class failure rates became almost null, with students also building portfolios they could show to employers.
