Shell taps GitHub to unify developer resources and drive collaboration and innovation

Shell, the global energy company serving millions of customers, was facing the challenge of digitizing rapidly while helping developers collaborate more effectively and avoid re-solving the same problems across teams. To support its innersource approach, Shell turned to GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Professional Services to centralize code, documentation, and developer resources in one place.

With GitHub, Shell built a unified platform for innersource, DevSecOps, and collaboration using tools like GitHub Actions and Dependabot. The result was more than 6,000 repos on GitHub, over 80 contributors to its developer portal, faster security response to issues like Log4j, and better knowledge sharing across teams—helping Shell speed innovation and focus more on new products and features.
