Pinterest - Customer Case Study

Pinterest has relied on GitHub since the start to build and share its open source work, support collaboration, and maintain visibility with the developer community. The company’s challenge was scaling its engineering and open source efforts while keeping development fast, secure, and manageable as traffic and projects grew, including work on Texture, Gestalt, and Ktlint, using GitHub services such as GitHub Actions and Dependabot.

GitHub helped Pinterest move CI/CD directly into GitHub, speeding build times for Texture from 80 minutes to 10 minutes and reducing the need for manual babysitting. Pinterest also benefited from GitHub’s security alerts, automated fixes, and SAML-based single sign-on, which improved vulnerability response and saved significant time managing access. Overall, GitHub enabled Pinterest to focus more on building products and contributing to open source.
