A GitHub Case Study
Philips, a global health technology leader with 6,000+ software professionals, needed to modernize a development environment that was fragmented across many repositories and servers. This made code discovery, reuse, onboarding, and collaboration difficult. Philips worked with GitHub, using GitHub Enterprise Cloud and an innersource approach, to create a more connected software ecosystem.
With GitHub, Philips centralized its codebase, built a developer portal, and automated CI/CD with GitHub Actions and self-hosted runners. The results included over 85% of code becoming open and shareable across business units, up to 80% of pull requests coming from external groups, and an 80% reduction in automation infrastructure costs. GitHub helped Philips improve collaboration, speed up innovation, and deliver digital health solutions more efficiently.
