Nationwide - Customer Case Study

Nationwide, a Fortune 100 insurance company, needed a faster, more collaborative way to develop software across a distributed IT organization. Its old version control tools were centralized and slow, forcing developers to wait on infrastructure teams and limiting self-service, visibility, and speed. Nationwide turned to GitHub Enterprise to support its DevOps goals and help thousands of developers and testers work more effectively.

GitHub implemented a production pilot, helped Nationwide build the business case, and then enabled a full migration to GitHub Enterprise without a large IT project. The results included 12,000 pull requests, 2,600 repositories, and 2,900 users in the first 10 months, along with more autonomy, less infrastructure overhead, and faster feature delivery. With GitHub, Nationwide also made projects open and searchable, improving collaboration, code quality, and the team’s ability to respond to issues and reuse proven features.
